- Joey Logano returns to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in search of the season sweep following his dominating performance where he sat on the pole and led 138 laps en route to his victory in June.
- The Sprint Cup series will again utilize the proposed 2017 rules package. Logano has won two of the three races where that package has been utilized in 2016.
- Logano has an average finishing position of fifth at Michigan since joining Team Penske in 2013.
