Joey Logano started ninth and finished sixth in the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang in Saturday’s Menards 250 at Michigan International Speedway. Logano and the Team Penske crew battled a tight handling race car throughout the afternoon. Adding to the adversity of a tight handling car, the team was only able to pit three times as the race ran in just over one hour and 36 minutes. On the final restart of the event, Logano rallied from the 11th position to climb inside the top-10 and make a run at the top-five before settling into the sixth position for the run to the finish. Despite the difficult afternoon at Michigan International Speedway, the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford team was able to advance one position in the NASCAR XFINITY Series owners’ point standings, climbing to sixth position, trailing the lead by 59 points.

“Man, it was a tough day out there for our Discount Tire Ford Mustang. I don’t know how we finished sixth. We struggled to get the handle that we needed and the adjustments we made just didn’t make enough of a difference. I feel like we are making gains and we were pretty good in practice all weekend. We will just keep working and I know we will get this car up front and running for wins. We just didn’t hit on it today.”
