Joey proudly supports several charities, but three are very special to his heart.  David's House and the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock are both Northeast-based ventures that take exceptional care of children with severe illnesses.  In addition, Joey is heavily involved in the US Paralympics.  Please read a little about each and visit their websites.
David’s House is the dream of a young boy named David Cyr, who
passed away from leukemia in 1984 at the age of five. For three and a
half years, David was treated at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in
Hanover, NH.

Visiting David during his hospitalizations was easy for his parents who
lived only 20 minutes away. But during this time his family met others
who didn’t have that option; instead they slept in their cars, in the
waiting room, or in a chair at bedside to be close to their child.

When David's doctor told the Cyrs that David had just months to live, his father, Dick, asked the doctor, "Why isn't there a place for families like ours to stay?" The doctor told him there had been talk about a house in this area, but nothing had ever come of it. Dick replied, "We're going to build a place, and we're going to call it David's House."

One week after David passed away, his parents and their friends began raising funds for David's House. The first money was David's own: $300.78 in birthday money and his dad's spare change that David had stashed away throughout the house. Whenever Dick asked him what he was saving for, David always replied, "For a special reason, Dad."

That special reason has now served over 10,000 families from around the world!

Joey Logano, driver of the #20 Home Depot Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing,
was approached by Extreme Ice Center (Indian Trail, NC) to partner in an
exciting project.  Joey, who is originally from the Northeast, has always
had a soft spot for hockey and all winter sports and gladly accepted the
invitation.

Together, Extreme Ice Center and Joey looked to design and produce new
hockey sleds for the US Paralympic Hockey team.  He had a chance to
observe the sleds that the players were currently using and found they were all in disrepair and all were second-hand sleds produced outside the United States.  Joey, along with the Extreme Ice Center, teamed up and put the plan into action.  They received some testimonials from players and totally redesigned the sleds for better weight distribution and maneuverability.

The project took just over nine months to complete, and on December 2, 2009, a total of 20 brand new sleds were delivered to the USA training facility in Rochchester, NY.  They are currently being used in Japan and will be used in Vancouver in just a few short weeks at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
